I joined eGEE right after school, following my master’s internship, as a .NET developer working in C# and VB.NET. My first job was to maintain the WPF desktop client used by the utilities, along with the existing WebForms portals.

I picked up the technical side quickly, and the company gave me more responsibility on the project meant to fully replace the desktop client: a new generation of web portals, built with ASP.NET MVC and jQuery. That is where the first version of the Agence mobile came from, the portal where users check their bills and consumption and send requests to their utility.

That project made me grow a lot on two topics school rarely teaches: ergonomics and accessibility. The new solution was built hand in hand with pilot clients and a firm of ergonomics experts, and the portal had to meet WCAG level AA at minimum. Designing for users of every age and ability, including people with disabilities, changed the way I think about an interface.
